Villa Terang

Villa Terang is built to be bright, and on the Bukit that is a deliberate choice — most villas here hide from the sun. Instead this one opens to it: steel-framed glass runs floor to ceiling across both bedrooms and the living room, looking out over open scrub towards the coast, with skylights cut into the pitched timber ceilings to bring light down into the stairwell.

The living room drops into a broad sunken lounge, a continuous pale sofa set around a low table facing a wall of arched plaster niches with a large screen at the centre. It is the room the villa is designed around, and it works — everyone ends up in it. A timber-slatted ceiling runs overhead, and the kitchen sits along one wall in pale stone and oak.

Two king bedrooms each have their own bathroom finished in soft microcement with long stone vanities and walk-in showers, and there is a proper desk nook under a window for anyone working. Outside, the pool sits against a stone-clad wall with an arched recess. Bingin’s beaches, cafés and surf are minutes down the lane.
