Awanara
Why We Recommend Awanara
Awanara is a one-bedroom villa that behaves like a much larger house, because almost all of its volume goes upward. The living room runs two storeys to a white pitched ceiling, with a timber-tread staircase climbing one wall behind a slim black rail, and a mezzanine looking back down over the sofa.
The courtyard is walled in rough limestone, weathered and irregular against all the white plaster, with a pool running along one side and timber loungers under an arched timber door. Inside, the kitchen is built into a timber-fronted island with a stone top and bar stools, and a long floating timber shelf runs the living room wall beneath the screen.
The bedroom is calm and uncluttered — white bedding with a woven chevron throw, a timber bench at the foot, and glass opening to the greenery. Its bathroom is finished in stone with a timber-framed mirror and a walk-in rain shower. Canggu’s best cafés and restaurants are a short ride, and the whole villa is built for two rather than squeezed down from something bigger.
