Ban Reemo

Ban Reemo sits high on the hillside above Bophut, on Koh Samui’s north coast, and from almost everywhere on the estate the view runs out over the treetops to the sea and the outline of Koh Phangan beyond. It is a generous, Thai-inspired home of pitched timber roofs and separate pavilions, set within around five thousand square metres of tropical gardens, so it feels secluded even though Fisherman’s Village is a short drive down the hill. With five bedrooms and six bathrooms, it suits larger families and groups of friends who want space to spread out.

The long infinity pool is the centrepiece, stretching across the terrace with a row of turquoise loungers, a shaded sala and decorative urns along its edge, and the water seems to spill straight into the view. Mornings are bright and breezy, and in the evening the sky over the bay turns pink and gold while the gardens light up around the pool. Inside, tall timber ceilings and walls of glass doors open the living room to the terrace, with deep sofas, a billiard table, a dining table beside the view and a sleek, fully equipped kitchen.

The five bedrooms are spread across the pavilions, each with air conditioning and its own bathroom, and several open onto balconies or the garden with sea views from the bed. Bathrooms are finished in pale stone with carved Thai panels, and some have freestanding bathtubs. A chef can be arranged for breakfast and dinner, a car can be organised for exploring, and the beaches, restaurants and night market of Bophut are all within easy reach.
