Casa Riva

Tucked down a quiet lane in Pererenan, Casa Riva is the kind of villa that makes you slow down the moment the timber door swings open. Clean white walls, warm teak and banks of tropical planting frame a turquoise pool, and a cushioned swing hangs right over the water, the obvious first stop with a cold drink in hand.

The house is built around that pool. Glass walls fold the open-plan living space straight onto the terrace, where a sunken lounge with a flat-screen TV sits beside a sleek kitchen and a long dining table, and a floating timber staircase climbs to the upper floor. Outside, loungers and a broad umbrella catch the sun, while a shaded table for six and a barbecue make dinner at home an easy choice. Pererenan is the relaxed neighbour of Canggu: surf breaks, rice fields and good coffee within a short ride, with the beach around two kilometres away.
