Villa Viiv House

A sunken lounge set right beside the pool, cushions scattered in turquoise and lime, is the first thing that catches the eye at Villa Viiv House. This is crisp, contemporary Balinese architecture in Pererenan: timber slats, natural stone and full-height glass, wrapped around a walled tropical garden with green rice fields opening out beyond the upper floors.

Downstairs, the open-plan living and dining space runs the length of the house, a long timber table for six beneath a double-height void and a floating staircase, with a sleek kitchen and island alongside. The glass slides back so the pool, the sunken seating and the stone terrace feel like one continuous room. Upstairs, a mezzanine lounge makes a second place to curl up for films or board games, and the covered roof deck is where everyone ends up at dusk, looking out over the paddies as the sky turns gold.

All three bedrooms have their own bathroom, two of them with balconies over the garden and one facing the rice fields, so parents and children can spread out comfortably. Pererenan’s relaxed cafés and restaurants are close by, Echo Beach and its sunset surf are a short drive, and the livelier heart of Canggu is easy to reach when you want it, then easy to leave behind.
