Golden Lotus Villas The Flourish is perched on the hillside above Chaweng, looking out over green treetops to the sea and the headlands of Koh Samui’s north-east coast. Inside it is all clean white lines, pale floors and big sheets of glass, warmed with tan leather, rattan and woven pendant lights, so the view always takes centre stage. It is a relaxed, stylish base for a family or a few friends who want calm days with Chaweng close at hand.

The long, slim pool stretches out along the edge of the terrace, almost eight metres of water framed against the sky, with a sun deck and a shaded lounge beneath an open pergola for coffee in the morning and a cool drink as the light fades. Indoors, a comfortable living room with deep sofas and a TV flows into a round dining table and a modern, fully equipped kitchen, all opening through floor-to-ceiling glass to the view.

Three king bedrooms each have air conditioning and their own bathroom, and the best of them have wide sea views. One has a hanging swing seat by the window and another a freestanding bathtub. Breakfast is made fresh each morning, daily housekeeping and a villa manager are on hand, and a chef can cook lunch and dinner on request. Chaweng’s beach, markets and restaurants are a short drive down the hill.
