Mia Ocean Villa

Mia Ocean Villa is the newest home on the Mia estate, set on a peaceful corner at the northern tip of Chaweng Beach where a sandbar curls out into the shallows and the green islet of Koh Mad Lang sits just offshore. A broad lawn shaded by coconut palms runs from the terrace down to the water’s edge, and from almost everywhere in the villa you look out over pale sand, turquoise sea and bobbing longtail boats. It is a bright, breezy hideaway for four couples or a family, with the restaurants and shops of Chaweng close by when you want them.

Three white pavilions are arranged around a 21-metre lap pool tiled in green Balinese stone. A shaded gazebo with sofas sits across the middle of the pool, dividing a shallow end for children from a deeper section for proper swimming, and loungers and blue parasols line the deck. Along the terrace, a covered veranda holds a round dining table for eight right above the beach and a lounge with deep white sofas. Inside, the open-plan living room flows onto the veranda through wide glass doors, and the sleek kitchen, with its long island and wine fridge, is backed by a covered Thai-style kitchen with a barbecue.

The four bedrooms each have their own pavilion space for extra privacy, with king beds, en-suite bathrooms and high ceilings that let the sea breeze through. Two open onto the garden on two sides, one onto the pool terrace, and one has a four-poster bed and a generous sitting area, while the master and a second room add outdoor rain showers. Guests also enjoy the estate clubhouse, with a home cinema, a gym, a steam room, massage rooms and a kids’ club. A villa manager, Thai chef, housekeeper and handyman look after the villa, and breakfast is included.
