Sky Box Penthouse is a two-bedroom apartment on the top floor of a small, low-rise beachfront building at Bang Tao, and its view is the kind that stops you at the door. Floor-to-ceiling glass wraps the living space, framing a sweep of turquoise bay dotted with wooden longtail boats, green headlands and, at the end of the day, a sun that sinks straight into the sea. It is an easy, stylish base for two couples or a small family who want beach life on the doorstep and plenty to do within walking distance.

The open-plan living area is one bright, warm room, with honey-toned timber floors, deep sofas facing the water, a wooden dining table for six and a modern kitchen with an island and stools for breakfast. Off the master suite, a private balcony holds a small jacuzzi pool with nothing but sea beyond its edge, the spot most guests claim for morning coffee and sunset. Downstairs, residents share a sixteen-metre pool set in a landscaped beachfront garden, with timber decking, loungers, shaded seating and a pathway straight onto the sand.

Both bedrooms have king beds, air conditioning, a TV and their own bathroom, decorated with splashes of colour and Thai artwork. The master bathroom opens towards the balcony and its jacuzzi, while the second bathroom has a walk-in shower. Housekeeping and 24-hour security look after the building, a chef can cook breakfast and other meals on request, and Bang Tao’s beach restaurants, cafés and massage spots are all a short stroll away, with Surin Beach a few minutes’ drive.
