The Loft Emma

Twenty-one metres of water run straight down the middle of The Loft Emma, a lap-length private pool with a lawn alongside and a pair of loungers set right in the shallows at one end. It is the first thing you notice and the reason many guests choose it: a two-bedroom villa in Ubud with a pool long enough for proper morning laps.

The rest of the house is calm and pared back. Smooth concrete, white walls and black-framed glass meet woven pendant lights, hand-picked art and a rattan hanging chair in the open-plan lounge, where cream sofas face the pool. The dining table and black kitchen sit alongside, all opening to the terrace, while the master suite flows into a generous bathing area with a freestanding tub and long double vanity. The second bedroom brings a lime-green feature wall and garden views, and an outdoor shower waits by the deck for after a swim.

The villa is in west Ubud, close to the yoga studios, cafés and restaurants around Sayan and Penestanan. Sayan House is around two kilometres away, Brie Restaurant & Cheesery and Alchemy Yoga and Meditation Center a little further, and the Blanco Renaissance Museum is an easy ride for an afternoon of art.
