The Loft Dimanisa

A carved Balinese portrait hangs above the lounge at The Loft Dimanisa, and it sets the tone for the whole house: raw concrete, black steel-framed glass and warm teak, softened by island art and a garden that presses in on every side. This is a two-bedroom villa built for two couples or a young family who want something sharp and modern, yet still unmistakably Ubud.

Life revolves around a slim, dark-tiled private pool that runs the length of the garden. The open-sided living pavilion sits at one end under a timber ceiling, with sofas, a round lounge chair and a long dining table that look straight down the water, and a sleek black kitchen island tucked behind. Across the lawn, the bedroom wing is wrapped in full-height glass, so you can drift from bed to deck to pool in a few steps; after dark, underwater lights turn the whole courtyard into a glowing ribbon.

The villa lies in a quiet pocket north of central Ubud, where a few local warungs sit within walking distance and the town’s cafés, galleries and markets are a short drive away. It is the kind of place where mornings start with a swim and coffee on the deck, and afternoons are spent exploring rice terraces and temples before coming home to an evening meal by the pool.
