Villa Umah Jae

Set among coconut palms and rice fields in the green countryside north of Ubud, Villa Umah Jae is a peaceful two-bedroom hideaway where the loudest sounds are birdsong and the rustle of palm fronds. A thatched roof, warm timber and a fourteen-metre infinity pool stretching along the veranda give it a classic Balinese soul with a quietly modern finish.

Days unfold around the pool, which can be seen from every room, with sun loungers on the deck, a thatched gazebo in the garden and a terrace of rattan sofas looking out over the treetops. The open-plan living room, with its high timber ceiling and polished floors, flows into a dining area and a well-equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar, while a second dining spot outdoors makes the most of balmy evenings. There is a spa room for in-villa massages and space for morning yoga.

Both bedrooms sit in the main pavilion and open through full-length glass doors towards the pool: one with a canopied king bed and one with two canopied single beds, each with air conditioning and an open-air bathroom with a rain shower, plus a stone bathtub. Breakfast is included, an on-site host welcomes you on arrival, and Ubud’s galleries, cafés and the Sacred Monkey Forest are around a fifteen-minute drive away.
