Villa Alain 1 is a compact two-bedroom villa on the Berawa side of Canggu — the part of town that has matured from a surf backwater into one of Bali’s most liveable neighbourhoods. Finns Beach Club, Atlas, and the Berawa beachfront are all within a five-minute ride.

The villa is simple and does what it needs to do well. Two air-conditioned bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a private pool, an open-plan living area, and a small garden that screens you from the neighbours. The interiors are modern and unfussy: tiled floors, neutral palette, and enough natural light to keep things feeling airy despite the modest footprint.

There’s Netflix on the TV, reliable WiFi, and daily housekeeping — but no chef or breakfast service, which keeps the rate low and suits the kind of independent traveller who’d rather eat out at Berawa’s cafes anyway. The kitchen is equipped if you want to self-cater.

The location on Jalan Tibubeneng puts you in the heart of Berawa without being on the main road. It’s quiet at night, easy to find, and central to everything Canggu offers. The Berawa surf break and beach are a short walk, and the area’s best restaurants — Milk & Madu, Hungry Bird, Shady Shack — are all within cycling distance.

At $150 a night in low season, Villa Alain 1 is one of the most affordable private-pool villas in Canggu. It won’t win any design awards, but for couples or a pair of friends who want their own space and a good location, it’s hard to beat on value.
