Villa Bukit Naga

Mist rises off the river valley below Villa Bukit Naga most mornings, drifting through the palms until the long infinity pool appears to pour straight into the jungle canopy. Set high in the green hills outside Ubud, this seven-bedroom estate is spread across three elegant buildings of timber, stone and tall glass, all turned towards the view and wrapped in mature tropical gardens.

The living spaces are generous and deeply comfortable. Polished stone floors run beneath soaring timber ceilings, carved Balinese doors frame each room, and a long dining table sits beside walls of windows that look out over the treetops. There is a separate media room with a large screen for quiet evenings, while outside you will find shaded loungers along the pool, a jacuzzi, a private plunge pool tucked into the hillside and garden pavilions for an afternoon nap or a morning stretch.

Upstairs and down, the bedrooms are romantic and calm, most with four-poster beds draped in white canopies and windows opening onto the forest. A large dedicated team, including a villa manager and chef, looks after the house around the clock, with breakfast included each day. Ubud’s markets, galleries and restaurants are within driving distance, and the surrounding rice terraces and valleys are ideal for trekking and cycling.
