Villa Cies

Villa Cies is a contemporary two-storey beachfront villa near Weligama on Sri Lanka’s south coast, set right on the sand with wide views over the Indian Ocean. Warm terracotta floors, honey-toned timber and soft neutral fabrics give it a relaxed, earthy feel, and with four king suites for up to eight guests it works beautifully for families and groups of friends, with Weligama’s beginner-friendly surf breaks, beach cafés and the wider south coast all close by.

An infinity pool is the centrepiece outside, running in front of the living rooms with the beach just beyond, and there are reclining chairs and umbrellas on the deck. A thatched cabana and a gazebo offer welcome shade, and the terrace dining table looks straight out to sea, ideal for lunch in the breeze or dinner under the stars. From the terrace it is only a few steps down to the beach.

Indoors, open-plan living spaces with floor-to-ceiling glass fill with natural light, and a quiet courtyard pool of water lilies sits at the centre of the house. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a stylish dining area, a dedicated movie room and a sauna, and breakfast is included daily, with a chef available for other meals plus housekeeping and a personal guest assistant. The four bedrooms each have a king bed, air conditioning and an en-suite bathroom, with generous layouts, soft lighting and calm neutral tones.
