Villa Kalamona

Villa Kalamona sits on a gentle incline in a peaceful gated estate just above Choeng Mon, on Koh Samui’s north-east coast, about 700 metres from the beach. Built over several levels, it catches glimpses of the turquoise bay across the treetops and wraps itself in neat lawns and tropical planting. It has the relaxed, unfussy feel of a proper beach home, sized just right for a small family or two couples.

Outside, a deep blue infinity pool lines the deck, with striped loungers for lazy afternoons and the sea on the horizon. A covered veranda with rattan armchairs makes a shady retreat, and an outdoor dining set beside the pool is ideal for breakfast in the open air. Inside, a bright, open living room with soft blue sofas and big glass windows faces the pool and runs on into a six-seat dining table and a well-equipped kitchen full of natural light, and the gardens are reached from the back of the house.

All three air-conditioned bedrooms open onto the pool deck and each has its own bathroom, with touches of Thai décor throughout. The master has a four-poster king bed, one guest room has a second king, and the third has twin beds that can be joined to make a king, so the layout suits families and friends alike. Breakfast is included, housekeeping, pool care and 24-hour estate security are provided, and Choeng Mon’s cafés, restaurants and calm, family-friendly beach are a short trip away.
