At Villa Kelanah the best seat in the house sits right in the pool: a timber-framed lounge with deep cushions, built out over the turquoise water so you can trail your feet in while you read. Around it, this Kerobokan villa spreads its wings, with living spaces and bedrooms set along both sides of the garden behind long walls of glass, all looking in towards the water and the palms.
The thirteen-metre pool is the heart of everything, lined with grey loungers, stepping-stone paths and tropical planting, and it has a shallow section that suits younger swimmers. After dark, soft lighting turns the whole courtyard into a glowing lagoon. A long dining table under the covered terrace looks straight onto the water, while inside a second long table sits beside a kitchen bar with rattan stools, and a vast sunken-feeling lounge with low sofas opens fully to the garden.
Five bedrooms, four with king beds and one with a queen, each have their own ensuite, and several slide open straight onto the pool deck; one bathroom has a freestanding tub in a little planted courtyard, and some bedrooms connect, which is handy for families. Daily housekeeping, garden and pool care are included, and a chef can be arranged for any meal. Seminyak and Canggu are both a short drive away for beach clubs, cafés and boutiques.
