Villa Matigo

Villa Matigo has the easy, sunlit feel of a family home in the tropics. White walls, terracotta-tiled roofs and a long, glittering pool are wrapped in clipped lawn and lush planting, and in quiet Pererenan the loudest sounds are usually birdsong and the splash of someone diving in. It is a generous four-bedroom retreat for families or friends who want space to spread out without losing the sense of being together.

The heart of the house is a soaring living pavilion under a tall timber-and-thatch ceiling. Low sofas, rattan armchairs and a long dining table for eight sit beneath woven pendant lights, and the whole room opens onto the pool terrace so mornings drift outdoors. A separate kitchen with a breakfast bar makes cooking at home easy, a cosy media room offers a cool hideaway for film nights, and out in the garden a raised timber pavilion is set up for in-villa massages.

Bedrooms are calm and white, finished with carved Balinese headboards and timber doors, and several slide open straight onto the pool deck. The master suite sits above the living room, reached by a spiral staircase, with views reaching out over the rice fields. Pererenan’s cafés, Echo Beach and its famous sunsets are a short ride away, so days split happily between the coast and the loungers at home.
