Villa Mogu
Why We Recommend Villa Mogu
Villa Mogu is one of a short row of A-frame houses, and the shape does all the work — a steep gable glazed from floor to ridge, so the living room is a wall of glass two storeys high looking straight out at the pool. From the water at dusk, with the interior lit, the whole thing reads like a lantern stood on end.
Inside, a slim white staircase climbs one wall to a mezzanine, and the ground floor runs as one space: grey sofa, timber dining table, and a compact kitchen tucked behind an arched alcove doorway. The proportions are tight in the way small architectural houses often are, and the height stops it ever feeling small.
Two bedrooms sit under warm timber-slatted ceilings with beds facing the greenery, and the bathrooms are finished in pale microcement, one with a freestanding tub beside a walk-in shower. Outside there is a narrow pool with mauve bean bags under a timber pergola, plus a small lawn behind. Batu Bolong Beach and the Canggu strip are about ten minutes away.
