Villa O’Hea
Why We Recommend Villa O’Hea
Open the front door at Villa O’Hea and the whole view lands at once: an infinity pool running straight out towards bright green rice paddies, with palms and distant hills beyond. It is the moment guests talk about most, and it sets the tone for a stay that is all about slowing down, about four kilometres from the centre of Ubud.
The house leans into old Bali rather than glossy modern design. Weathered timber walls, carved doors and terracotta roofs frame an open-sided living pavilion where sofas, a long dining table and a fully equipped kitchen all face the pool and the fields. Three bedrooms each have their own bathroom, two with king beds dressed in white canopies and one with twin beds, and the bathrooms open to the sky, with a dark stone soaking tub in one of them. Evenings are for watching the light fade over the paddies from the pool deck, then dinner by lantern light.
Days settle into an easy rhythm. Housekeeping keeps the villa in order, the chef can cook in the villa on request, and massages can be arranged on the terrace. A café sits a short walk up the lane, a ten-minute stroll along the rice paddy paths leads to a village warung, and a small mask museum is just across the road, while Ubud’s markets, galleries and Monkey Forest are a quick drive away.
