Villa Philou

Villa Philou is built in lime-washed white under exposed timber A-frames, and the roof is the thing you notice first — raw trusses pitched high over every room, so even the bedrooms feel like barns rather than boxes. Arched timber doors open along the length of the house, and a rock wall thick with greenery runs the far side of the main pool, which turns the whole courtyard into something closer to a garden than a terrace.

There are two pools: the long one for swimming and a smaller plunge set beside a lawn at the other end of the plot, useful when a group splits between people who want sun and people who want shade. The kitchen and dining room sit under the same pitched ceiling in limewash and warm timber, with a long refectory table and woven pendants dropped low over it.

Six bedrooms sleep twelve, all with their own bathroom, several finished with hammered brass basins and freestanding tubs beneath slatted timber ceilings. The bedding carries a hand-drawn sunburst motif and the walls hold woven hangings — small choices that keep a house this size feeling made rather than specified. Canggu Beach, Berawa Beach and The Lawn are all a few minutes away.
