Villa Purissara

Villa Purissara is a dramatic beachfront home on the headland at Kamala Bay. White modern wings and steep Thai roofs step down a palm-shaded hillside to the shore, and from almost every terrace the view runs straight out across turquoise water and rocky coves. A small sandy beach sits just below the gardens, so mornings can start with a swim in the sea or a paddle in the villa’s kayaks.

The centrepiece is a nineteen-metre pool lined with dark tiles that make the water glow a deep sapphire, edged by sun loungers and towering coconut palms. At sunset the whole length of it mirrors the sky. Beyond the pool, a thatched sala with daybeds looks out over the bay, a sunken lounge sits on the terrace edge, and the dining terrace is tucked among lush tropical planting just above the sand, so dinner feels like eating in the jungle with the sea a few steps away.

Inside, the style is bold and glamorous: dark teak, jewel-coloured walls, lacquered cabinets and lavish rugs. The main living room opens fully to the terrace, a second lounge has a billiard table with sea views, and a long timber dining table sits beside a sleek, fully equipped kitchen. Five en-suite bedrooms include two master suites with sofas, televisions and private sea-view terraces, plus a family room that connects to two children’s rooms. A villa manager, chef, housekeeper and security look after the house, and there is a dedicated spa room for in-villa massages.
