Villa Semani

Two minutes from the sand at Berawa and yet completely hidden behind its garden walls, Villa Semani is a calm, characterful hideaway in the heart of the Canggu area. Weathered timber, high peaked ceilings and soft linen drapes give the house the easy, lived-in warmth of a traditional Indonesian home, while towering palms and lush planting frame a nine-metre pool that quickly becomes the centre of every day.

Life revolves around the main pavilion, a light-filled space wrapped in tall steel-framed glass doors that fold back onto the garden and pool. Deep sofas with bright cushions, rattan armchairs and a long dining table for eight sit beneath distressed wooden beams, with a fully equipped kitchen and island close by, and a separate media room for film nights. The four bedrooms occupy their own pavilion, each with a king bed and sliding glass doors that open straight out to the pool.

Outside, the rustic timber deck is lined with sunloungers beneath the palms, and a BBQ is on hand for evenings at home. A friendly team of four looks after housekeeping, the garden and pool, security and day-to-day help, and a chef can be arranged for any meal. Berawa Beach and its beach clubs are a couple of minutes’ drive away, with the restaurants and boutiques of Seminyak around ten minutes further.
