Villa Simone

Villa Simone’s pool has a sun ledge built into its shallow end, with loungers sitting right in the water, so you can lie half-submerged and look straight out across a deep green valley of palms near Ubud. The infinity edge curves away into the treetops, and at sunrise the light comes up over the canopy and spills across the water.

The house is calm and pared back, finished in sandy tones, woven textures and pale stone. Living room, dining table and kitchen run in one airy line behind sliding glass, all facing the jungle, and a terrace with built-in seating and scalloped umbrellas sits beside the pool for long, lazy afternoons. The three king bedrooms each have air conditioning and a TV, with tall glass doors onto garden paths, and the bathrooms are a highlight, with sculpted vanities and tubs set in open-air courtyards planted with palms.

A villa manager and housekeeping team look after the house, and a dedicated treatment room with two massage beds makes in-villa massages easy after a day on the trails. A small café is just around the corner, Tibumana Waterfall is around three kilometres away, and Ubud’s market and Water Palace are a short drive into town.
