Villa Talay See Fah, Thai for “blue sea”, lives up to its name. Set high on the Plai Laem headland in Samui’s north-east, it looks straight down over a curve of white sand and impossibly clear turquoise water, with forested hills and islands stretching away across the bay. It is a bright, cheerful four-bedroom home, full of colour and modern art, and a lovely choice for a family or a group of friends who want a view to remember.

The infinity pool is the star, its edge lined up with the cove below so the water seems to run straight into the sea. Sun loungers sit along the glass-fronted terrace, and a covered outdoor lounge and dining table make the most of the view from morning to night. Sunsets here are spectacular, with the sky turning violet and gold over the headland as the lights come on along the shore.
