Villa Tomok

Picture stepping out of bed and straight onto a sun-warmed timber deck, the pool just a few paces away and the rice fields of Canggu stretching beyond the garden walls. Villa Tomok is built around that simple pleasure: a contemporary tropical retreat of three pavilions, all turned towards the water, where days move at the pace of the next swim.

The two king bedrooms sit in their own pavilions either side of the pool, each opening onto the deck on one side and a private porch on the other, with polished woodwork, four-poster or statement beds and en-suite bathrooms with both a bathtub and a rain shower. Upstairs in the main pavilion, the twin room has its own balcony looking over the pool and fields, a natural fit for children or friends sharing. Below, the living room has a wide-screen television and reclining chairs for film nights, beside a partly open dining area and a sleek open kitchen.

Outside, the pool deck is scattered with sunbeds and bean bags, a thatched gazebo offers shade, and a pergola-covered dining terrace is set up for long lunches in the garden. A villa manager and a full team, including housekeepers, a pool attendant, a chef and security, look after the house, and breakfast is included each day. Echo Beach, with its surf and sunset seafood, is a short drive away, and Tanah Lot temple makes an easy late-afternoon outing.
