Casa Kameelya
Why We Recommend Casa Kameelya
Casa Kameelya reads as Mediterranean from the inside and Balinese from the outside, and the combination is more successful than it sounds. A steep alang-alang thatched roof covers a two-storey house of white plaster and exposed timber trusses, and the ceilings run high enough that the living room feels like a barn conversion — beams overhead, light falling from clerestory windows, air moving through.
Outside, a long pool runs alongside a proper lawn — genuinely rare in Canggu, where most villas pave right to the water — with a thatched bale and daybed at one end for the middle of the day. The open kitchen sits behind a stone island with rattan stools, and the dining table beside it seats everyone under the same timber roof.
Four bedrooms are finished in woven rattan panelling, timber and soft white, each with its own bathroom in stone and terrazzo, several with garden showers. One room takes twin beds rather than a double, which makes the villa easy for families as well as two couples. The beach and Canggu’s cafés, bars and restaurants are walkable, so the car mostly stays parked.
