Emile Estate

A stairway at the estate’s doorstep leads down to the white sand and famous surf of Bingin, in Uluwatu, and that alone sets Emile Estate apart. Up top, two residences sit side by side in a wide tropical garden: a five-bedroom villa wrapped around a striking twenty-five-metre pool, and a three-bedroom villa with its own eight-metre pool. Booked together, they give extended families and groups of friends room for up to twenty, with plenty of space to spread out.

The look is relaxed coastal style done well: driftwood and weathered timber, carved stone walls, rattan pendants and bright, eclectic textiles beneath soaring wooden roofs. Both residences have semi-open, high-ceilinged living pavilions, long timber dining tables for eight to ten and fully equipped kitchens, and the larger villa adds a TV lounge for film nights. Every bedroom opens directly onto a pool, with four-poster beds draped in netting, generous en-suites with rain showers and, in places, semi-open bathrooms under the sky.

Days begin with stretches in the open-air yoga pavilion at the edge of the lawn, then drift between the beach, the long lap pool and the shaded deck. A friendly team of housekeepers, pool attendants, gardeners and security staff keeps everything running smoothly, and chefs can prepare local and international dishes at home. Uluwatu Temple, clifftop sunset spots and the restaurants of southern Bali are all a short drive away.
