Golden Lotus Villas The Tranquil lives up to its name. Set high on the hillside above Chaweng, it looks out over thick green treetops to the blue of the bay, and the elevated position brings cooling breezes and long, quiet views. The design is modern and easy, with polished concrete floors, white walls and big glass doors, warmed by charcoal sofas, timber and woven black lamps, and four bedrooms give a family or two couples plenty of space.

Outside, the infinity pool stretches along the edge of the terrace, eight and a half metres of water against a backdrop of jungle and sea. A cushioned daybed sits beside it, and a shaded lounge with deep chairs catches the breeze for an afternoon drink. Indoors, an open-plan living room faces the ocean with a big sofa and large TV, a long dining table sits beneath woven pendants, and the sleek, well-equipped kitchen has an island looking out to the view. A second living room with its own dining corner adds a quieter place to unwind.

All four bedrooms have king beds, air conditioning, a TV and their own bathroom, and wide glass walls turn each one into a private viewing gallery over the hills and sea. The master suite has natural stone in its modern bathroom. A villa manager and housekeeping look after the house, and a private chef can prepare lunch and dinner. Chaweng’s beach, restaurants and the Chaweng viewpoint are all close by.
