Villa Sip Song

Samujana Villa 12 is a true statement home on the hillside above Choeng Mon: a sweep of pale stone, timber and glass laid out over several levels, with planted roofs, lawns and terraces all facing the bay and its scattered islands. The interiors are soft and natural, with woven pendant lights, rattan hanging chairs and sand-coloured stone. With seven large bedrooms and more facilities than many resorts, it is made for big families, several generations travelling together or a large group of friends.

The main pool is enormous, an infinity pool over twenty-five metres long with sun beds set into the shallows and white umbrellas along the edge, and there is a separate children’s pool too. After dark the pool glows under coloured lights, and a wide rooftop deck with low cushioned seating is the place to watch the sun drop behind the hills. Out in the garden, a basketball court and a sunken trampoline keep younger guests busy for hours.

Indoors there are two living rooms and two dining areas, one with a long timber table for the whole group, and a kitchen with an island and stools. For downtime, a tiered private cinema, a games room with table tennis, foosball, a pool table, video games and a piano, and a full gym with boxing gear make it easy to stay in. Every bedroom has a king bed, a TV and an en-suite bathroom, five of them with Jacuzzis, and several suites open onto terraces with their own small plunge pools.
