Samujana Villa 30 sits at the very top of the Samujana estate on Koh Samui’s north-eastern hills, and from up here the island unfolds in every direction. The living level is wrapped in an infinity pool so wide and still that it seems to pour straight into the Gulf of Thailand, with the bays of Choeng Mon, the headlands and the outlying islands laid out below. It is the kind of house where you find yourself checking the view at every hour, because it never looks the same twice.

The signature moment is the open-sided pavilion that floats on the water, its flat white roof shading deep sofas and daybeds, so you can wade across for a lie-down and never lose sight of the sea. Sunrise and sunset both land on this pool, and at night it glows electric blue against the lights of the coast. Inside, the main living room and long dining table sit behind floor-to-ceiling glass, a sleek white kitchen with a big island looks straight out to the horizon, and a hand-built spiral staircase rising from a pebbled pond links the floors below.

The five king bedrooms are calm, pale and generous, most with their own terraces and sea or garden outlooks, and the master bathroom has a freestanding tub framed by greenery. Lower down there is a dark, cocooning cinema room for film nights and a private gym with ocean views, plus a lawn that steps out over the hillside. Breakfast is served each morning, the villa team handles housekeeping and security, and the beaches, cafés and night market of Choeng Mon are only a short drive away.
