Villa See

Samujana Villa 4 is a terraced hillside home on the Samujana estate above Choeng Mon, built around a bright turquoise infinity pool that frames a long view across the bay to the islands of Koh Samui’s north-east coast. Crimson parasols, scarlet loungers and banks of bougainvillea give the outdoor spaces a cheerful, sunny character that sets it apart from its neighbours, and the whole house is arranged so that almost every room looks back towards the water.

The pool, nearly eighteen metres long, runs along a wide stone deck with plenty of sun beds, while a sheltered terrace with ceiling fans holds an outdoor lounge and a dining table for long, slow lunches in the shade. Indoors, a huge white sofa faces straight out over the pool, and the open living space flows into a dining room built around a big round table that seats all ten guests, with a fully equipped kitchen alongside. For rainy afternoons there is a proper games room with a pool table and air hockey, a cinema room with tiered loungers and a big screen, and a well-equipped gym that looks out over the water.

All five bedrooms have king beds, air conditioning, a television and their own en-suite bathroom with a rain shower and a freestanding tub. Several open onto private terraces and garden decks, one with a bright red outdoor sofa looking into the palms. A villa manager and guest assistant are on hand, housekeeping and breakfast are included, and at low tide you can wade across from Choeng Mon Beach to the little island of Koh Fan Noi.
