Sivana Suite

Sivana Suite is perched high on the Bingin ridge, and every space in it faces the same way — out over an unbroken run of jungle canopy to an open ocean view, the volcano silhouette behind it. The bed looks at it, the plunge pool runs towards it, and the open-sided living pavilion frames it through a great limestone arch.

The building is Mediterranean by way of Bali: rough-cut limestone walls, thick plastered arches, alang-alang thatch pulled low over the terraces and terrazzo underfoot. Bougainvillea spills across the stonework. It is a heavier, more tactile architecture than the white minimalism elsewhere on the Bukit, and it ages into the hillside rather than sitting on it.

The bathroom is open to the sky beneath its own arch, built around a deep black stone tub that the staff will fill with flower petals. A private butler looks after the suite, there is an outdoor kitchenette on the terrace, and massage can be set up on the lawn with the same view. It is adults only, and it is unmistakably built for honeymoons.
