Villa Axé

Villa Axé borrows its language from the Mediterranean and drops it into Bingin, and the combination works better than it has any right to. Everything is white — rendered walls, arched openings, curved niches — offset by exposed timber beams and pale floors. Against the Bukit’s hard light and dense green, the whole villa reads bright and cool.

The pool is the giveaway that this is not actually Ibiza: a curved, kidney-shaped stretch of water with a raised jacuzzi step at one end, wrapped by a paved terrace and framed on all sides by white walls. Arched doorways lead off it into the living areas, so from the water you are looking through a series of soft-edged openings rather than flat sliding glass.

Inside, a sunken lounge sits under a beamed ceiling with a fan turning slowly, and the kitchen and dining area run alongside in the same pale timber and white render. Two bedrooms sleep four, each with a timber bed frame, arched detailing and its own bathroom with twin oval mirrors and a walk-in shower. Bingin’s beaches, cafés and sunset spots are a few minutes away.
