Villa Bata
Why We Recommend Villa Bata
Villa Bata is the closest thing Berawa has to a New York loft. A double-height white volume runs the depth of the plot, crossed by a floating timber staircase on blackened steel stringers, with a skylight dropping a shaft of light through the middle of it. Industrial pendants hang over a breakfast bar, and the whole thing is hard-edged in a way Bali villas rarely are.
The bedroom sits behind a wall of exposed red brick — the detail the villa is named for, and the one warm surface in an otherwise cool palette of white plaster, concrete and steel-framed glass. A long white sofa faces a low timber table and a screen, with a floating timber shelf running the wall beneath it.
The bathroom is poured microcement throughout with a recessed niche and a rain shower, quietly severe. Outside, the pool runs along a living green wall with a timber deck alongside. Berawa Beach, the beach clubs and the run of cafés and gyms along the main road are all within a few minutes.
