Villa Sorrento One

Villa Sorrento One brings a touch of the Mediterranean to the Bukit. Sand-coloured walls enclose a private courtyard where a turquoise pool, with broad entry steps and a shallow sun shelf, runs towards a shaded lounge piled with green-and-white striped cushions beneath a slatted timber pergola. Planters of cactus and palms line the walls, an outdoor shower stands in its own arched stone niche, and tall arched glass doors open from the pool straight into the house. It is a single-storey villa for two, designed so that almost every room looks out onto the water.

Inside, exposed timber beams run across white ceilings and every doorway, window and niche is softly arched. The living room is built around a sunken lounge, a long white built-in sofa wrapping a round timber table, with a television set into an arched alcove. A few steps up, a timber dining table with rattan chairs sits beside the pool doors, and the kitchen runs along the wall in pale timber and white, with a tiled arched splashback, a fridge-freezer, a microwave, a hob and a water dispenser. Ceiling fans turn overhead, air conditioning keeps things cool, and there is fast Wi-Fi and a place to work.

The bedroom has a queen-size bed on a floating timber base, two rattan-framed pictures and pendant lamps either side, with generous open shelving, a hanging rail, a safe and a full-length mirror. Large arched glass doors open from the bedroom towards the pool, so the first swim of the day is a few steps away. The bathroom is the other showpiece: twin fluted vessel basins beneath a pair of arched black-framed mirrors and wall lanterns, and a walk-in rain shower lit from a skylight above, with timber shelves set into the wall.

Staff clean daily and care for the pool and garden during the week, and a concierge team can arrange breakfast in the villa, a private cook, massages, laundry, airport transfers, surf lessons and day trips. Bingin, Dreamland and Padang Padang beaches are four to ten minutes away by scooter, Bambu Fitness about four and El Kabron five, with cafés such as Alchemy, Drifters and Nourish and Gooseberry’s French kitchen close by. It suits couples, honeymooners and solo travellers who want a stylish, private pool villa near the surf, with the peninsula’s sunset spots all within easy reach.
