Villa Biara

Canopied daybeds sit right at the edge of the black sand at Villa Biara, looking out over the surf of Saba Beach in Ketewel, a quiet stretch of coast a short drive up the coast from Sanur. Rows of palms frame the view, the waves roll in all day, and on some days a small river winds across the sand to meet the sea.

Inside the gate, a sleek, white-walled pavilion opens straight onto the pool deck, with the turquoise pool, a shaded gazebo and a long lawn all leading the eye to the ocean. The living area is bright and open, with low sofas, a TV room and an island kitchen, and a dining table that looks across the water. Breakfast is included each day, and a floating breakfast in the pool can be arranged.

The five bedrooms are generous and calm, each with air conditioning, a TV and its own ensuite, several with tubs and open-to-the-sky showers lined in blue mosaic. Bicycles are on hand for coastal rides, welcome drinks greet you on arrival, and housekeeping and security are provided daily. Restaurants are a short drive away in Sanur, which keeps the villa wonderfully peaceful, a seafront base for families who want quiet days by the water.
