Villa Eshara 1

Tucked down a quiet lane only a few hundred metres from Seminyak’s beachfront, Villa Eshara 1 feels a world away from the busy streets around it. Step through the carved timber gate and you find a walled tropical garden, a twelve-metre pool framed by palms and frangipani, and a soaring timber-roofed pavilion where crystal chandeliers glitter above the dining table.

Inside, the open-plan living space is generous and stylish: deep grey sofas, rich hardwood floors, tribal art and a carved wooden rocking horse, with glass walls sliding open onto the pool deck. The long dining table seats fourteen, and the open kitchen comes complete with an espresso machine for slow mornings. Each of the three bedrooms has its own bathroom, and the bathing spaces are memorable, from a natural river-stone tub in the master suite, looking out over a fish pond and fountain, to an outdoor rain shower set in a pebbled Zen garden.

Outdoors, the pool has a shallow area for younger swimmers, with sunloungers, parasols and a shaded rattan lounge stocked with books. A team of seven, including housekeepers, a gardener, pool cleaner, security and a butler, keeps the villa running smoothly, and an airport pick-up is included on arrival. Villa Eshara 1 is one of three villas on the Eshara estate, so it can be combined with its neighbours for a larger family or group while each keeps its own pool and entrance.
