Villa Nalas

At Villa Nalas the infinity pool seems to pour straight into the ocean: it runs along a timber deck right at the top of the shoreline at Ketewel, just up the coast from Sanur, where waves break over the reef just below. Two thatched pavilions with tall, pointed roofs frame the view, and the white two-storey house behind them has been built so that nearly every room looks out to sea.

Inside, the scale is generous. A double-height atrium lit by a glass roof holds a long indoor water feature, with the open-plan dining room, kitchen and living spaces flowing around it behind retractable glass doors. There is a sunken lounge with a big screen and streaming services for lazy evenings, a separate media room, and a children’s playroom painted with whimsical murals, plus a library-style room lined with shelves.

The villa’s own spa is the surprise: a wood-panelled sauna, a jacuzzi in an open-sided room facing the ocean and a dedicated massage room, all a few steps from the bedrooms. The five bedrooms have king beds, high timber-beamed ceilings and en-suite bathrooms, and several open onto balconies above the pool. Breakfast is included and daily housekeeping keeps everything in order, while Sanur’s restaurants, beachfront path and boat harbour are a short drive away.
