Villa Rinjani

A turquoise pool runs the length of a deep tropical garden at Villa Rinjani, edged by frangipani, palms and a dark stone water wall that spills softly into the shallows. Thatched pavilions and carved Balinese gates frame the lawn, and the whole place has the unhurried, green calm that Sanur does so well, a quiet residential pocket close to the beach rather than a busy strip.

Life here centres on the open-sided living pavilion, where a soaring timber roof shelters deep sofas, a long dining table and a fully fitted kitchen with a breakfast bar, all opening straight onto the garden. Out on the lawn, a traditional gazebo with cushioned seats makes a shady spot for afternoon tea or a long read, and loungers line the pool for slow mornings in the sun. Breakfast is prepared daily, and the staff can cook lunch or dinner too.

Five bedrooms suit families and friends travelling together: four king rooms dressed with canopy nets and bright fabrics, and a bunk room that children tend to claim on arrival. Sanur’s beaches, including Mertasari and Pengembak, are within walking distance or a short drive, and the village’s cafes, markets and seafront path are close by, with Waterbom and the rest of southern Bali an easy outing.
