Villa Zambala

A long ribbon of grey-green volcanic stone runs down the middle of Villa Zambala: a twenty-five-metre pool set into a wide lawn, shaded by tall coconut palms and frangipani, with the villa’s white pavilions arranged along either side. It is the kind of layout that lets a large group spread out properly, with everyone a few steps from the water but nobody on top of anyone else.

The living spaces open straight onto the garden. Two lounges under warm timber ceilings, a long dining table looking down the pool, and a separate media room give the house several places to settle, while a private gym looks out over greenery for anyone keeping up a routine. Outside, a timber deck lined with sun loungers runs beside the water, and a carved Balinese daybed sits in a corner of the garden for slow afternoons. A chef can cook Indonesian and international dishes in the villa, and the team of four staff keeps the house running smoothly.

Location is a big part of the appeal. The villa sits in Berawa, close enough to walk to the beach and to FINNS Beach Club, with Canggu’s cafés, restaurants and boutiques all around. After a morning in the surf or an afternoon on the sand, it is an easy stroll home to the pool.
