Villa Khajuraho

Villa Khajuraho is a generous, light-washed family home set in more than a thousand square metres of garden near Bingin, in Uluwatu. Bougainvillea spills over carved stone walls, lawns roll out towards the trees, and at the centre a sweeping, curved pool winds through the planting, with a shallow wading section where younger swimmers can splash safely while the grown-ups stretch out on the deck.

Indoors, high ceilings and wide glass doors give the living spaces an easy, open feel. There is a long dining table for family dinners, a well-equipped kitchen with an island, a billiard table for rainy afternoons and a wine cellar, while gym equipment and a quiet office corner make longer stays simple. Breakfast can be ordered from a menu, and the team will cook lunch, dinner or a poolside barbecue whenever you prefer to stay in.

The four bedrooms are spread for privacy: a main suite with a canopy bed and bathtub, two upstairs rooms with bathtubs and balcony views over the garden, and a separate Javanese-style pavilion bedroom. Every room has its own bathroom. Bingin and Padang Padang beaches, with their cliffs and surf, are a short drive away, as is Uluwatu Temple for sunset. Khajuraho is part of a five-villa estate that can be booked in its entirety for a larger group.
